in Cutting tax
Hi all, first post, be kind!
I have just moved back to the UK since being abroad for the past 10 years or so and my wife has managed to find a job with a day care centre.
However, they are a registered charity and pay her by cheque at the end of the month, they dont deduct tax as they say she doesnt work enough hours to be taxed but nor do they deduct any NI. This is completely different from my job and as I was a youngster when I left the UK I really dont have anything to compare this to, can any of you guys help out?
any help appreciated, thanks

You wouldn't pay tax if your gross income was below £419.58/month. You wouldn't pay National Insurance if your gross income was below £364/month.Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.0

Thanks Hoddie,
Her gross income is below 419.58 but over 364/month. How will she pay her NI contributions?
thanks again0 -
If she's an employee then I believe they're breaking the law by not deducting National Insurance. Is she older that State Retirement age? If she's treated as self-employed/freelance (which may be incorrect as employment status is not a choice) - then she'd have to arrange to pay National Insurance herself.
Either way I'd have a chat with the National Insurance Contributions Office on 0845 302 1479 (8.30-5.00 Mon to Fri).Quidco savings: £499.49 tracked, £494.35 paid.0
