Vegetarian option for a hog roast?

Hi,
For my daughter's evening party we have booked a hog roast, but we have some veggie guests and also some who don't eat pork for other reasons (probably about 30 - 40 in total).
The hog roast company have said that if we provide a veggie filling, they will put it into a bun for us and serve it.
Can anyone suggest any good veggie fillings that we can prepare before the event? We will have a hot cupboard available on the day at the venue and the afternoon reception caterers will be able to warm up anything and put in the hot cupboard.
We are thinking of some sort of roasted vegetables/ratatouille, but we need it to be able to go into a bun but still be quite juicy so that they are not just getting a dry bun!
We have loads of time - wedding not till next year - so we can do lots of practising!
Any suggestions gratefully received!
Debbie

Falafel with salad, tahini and chilli sauce? Mmmmmmm
Personally, as a vegetarian, I'd be slightly disappointed with a veggie burger of the fake meat variety. They're a bit cardboardy and boring.
Edit: Ooh, or bit flat mushrooms with halloumi and chilli jam like they do in Nandos.Saving for deposit: Finished! :j

I second the falafel idea, you'd need some yoghurt and chilli sauce too but that'd be lush. Mushrooms are fine for some but there are quite a few veggies (like me) who hate the things! So make sure you check first. I'd be having dry bread if it was only a mushroom option0

You can get Fallafell and spinach burgers from morrisons
or fruity falafel goodlife ones sainsburys, possibly other supermarkets as well.
Really nice both kinds are 1/4 pounders but they do need a bit of relish or hot sauce. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

I am vegetarian and to be honest I would be very happy to be offered any kind of vegetarian option. I went to a friend's wedding reception recently, they had a hog roast but didn't provide any alternative for the veggies or anyone who can't/won't eat pork. I ended up with a dry bread roll for my dinner as that is all there was- they had put out some salady stuff such as pork pies and scotch eggs, but no actual salad so it was literally only the bread roll I could eat. I was starving all night!
I love falafel, also love veggies burgers/ sausages, and I love mushrooms. If you are worried about it being dry, then you could always do some chilli sauce/ mayonnaise type dips for people to help themelves to (and a bit of salad goes well as well!). Do the caterers have access to an oven/ microwave or would they need to go into the hot cupboard hot and be kept hot all afternoon/evening? Perhaps you can have a little experiment and see what keeps hot the best without drying out0 -
Have you thought about having a cheese board with breads/crackers and salads....thats something that both sets can happily tuck into without labeling it as vege or meat eaters?frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

Yes it's great having a cold cheese salad bap while everyone else is tucking into hot grub. Not.The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
