Out of Warranty Laptop

So i had my macbook pro dvd drive replaced about 3 weeks ago after it failed. It cost me £120 from Apple.
Then last week my hard drive failed. I bought a new one and I am sending the failed drive for repair under warranty (it was bought as upgrade around September). However, after attempting an install more problems. So back to Apple again. Was told I had a faulty connection between the Hard Drive and Logic board. Another £40 paid for repair.
The laptop is only 17 months old. I'm starting to think I should have argued about paying for repairs that where not caused by me?
Do I have a case to claim back the money for the repairs? Sale of Goods act?
On another note the Laptop decided to turn itself off when I was surfing the net earlier. Although I think at the minute it may have just overheated.

As I understand it, you should have given the retailer the opportunity first to repair - and probably given an independent report detailing the fault.
But it's another time when I have to say - it doesn't hurt to try!Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Oh they did repair, but I payed for it!
Im only now thinking surely on a premium product only 17 months old I really shouldn't have to pay £160 in repairs plus the cost of a new hard drive.0 -
Update.
It has decided to turn itself off. Again.0
