I had a 5yr guaranteed income bond with Birmingham Midshire, this became due 2nd November 2006. It is B'Ham Midshires policy to transfer the funds into a low interest account until they receive insutructions from the client, as I wanted to close this account tried to inform them beforehand but was told I could only apply for closure of the account on the 2nd of Nov:06. Posted the neccesary form for closure on the 1st Nov:06 phoned customer services on the 8th Nov:06 was told the bonds dept had a backlog! finally got my cheque dated 13th Nov:06 on the 17th Nov:06. Am I wrong in thinking this is bad customer service? I know I will never invest anything with this company again and perhaps my gripe will make others think.

I had a 1 year bond with them which matured on 17 Nov. Cheque was sent out to me dated 20 Nov (if a Bond matures on a Fri, Sat or Sun they send funds out on Monday). I received it today and paid it into a Halifax account today. BM would not transfer funds into a Halifax account, I had option of reinvesting for another 12 months or having a cheque sent out. I now have to wait for cheque to clear. I agree with previous post about poor customer service.0

I would write to them claiming interest for the period between the 2nd and the 17th, plus £10 for the cost of writing the letter - its not bad service its money grabbing
