Aqua - 2 searches?

Recently applied for an Aqua card, and got a message saying "Provisionally accepted for approx £600 - we just need to get you to sign" (awaiting paperwork)

Just checked my report - it seems they did 2 searches on me - should I be worried about this ? (I don't actually plan to apply for credit for the next 6 months or similar) - but I know that multiple searches showing can cause a detrimental effect.

Should I ask for one to be removed?

Are both searches of the type "Credit Card", or is one of them an "Identification: Generic Check", or "Unrecorded Inquiry"?

If the latter, don't worry - this is normal and invisible to other lenders. If both are a "Credit Card" search, though, you'll need to raise a Notice of Correction via the Credit Expert help center to dispute the duplicate search and get it removed :o

Yes, both are "Credit Card" - one has time at address also listed in the info.

What are my reasons for getting it corrected? Should I do this now? Or wait till I get the card?

Your reasons for getting it corrected are a) you only authorized a single search, and b) this gives the impression to third party creditors that you applied for two credit cards, which is misrepresentative and therefore a breach of DPA

I'd get it done now, no reason to wait, it won't affect your credit card application in the slightest. Just an honest mistake which Halifax will happily correct when prompted to do so by Experian :o

  • The aqua card is issued by Bank of Scotland plc, and BOS always do 2 full searches for some reason, ask experian to remove one of the searches.

Natwest checked me twice too - just emailed Experian and they simply removed one of the searches. Took about 5 days.
