in IVA & DRO
Its that horrible time of year again where CCCS undertaking our review - this year they have asked for 3 months bank statements from all accounts, now I can understand them wishing to see direct debits etc. for bills but not happy that they want personal one don't get me wrong there is nothing dodgy in there but I really resent them seeing where I do my shopping or how much cash has been taken out of the account. Surely this will encourage them to make 'value judgements' ie, she shops in marks or she shops in aldi's.. so lets take some more money of them -or am I missing something here??

Thats not the reason they want to see your bank statements, they dont care if you spend 24p or 99p on a tin of beans from tesco or harrods !!!
They just want to monitor your current accounts to see that you are running your "finanical" life ok. Its really nothing to worry about, unless you have someTHING to worry about.
Your monthly expenditure form is what they base how much you repay them. Am sure the cost of living goes up at each review....(doesnt it) so if you have had any increases in salary I am sure that the cost of fuel/food etc etc WILL increase....WONT IT !!!
"Dream World" by The B Sharps....describes a lot of the posts in the Loans and Mortgage sections !!!0 -
No offence meant, Mother Hen, but they do have a duty to make sure the IVA is running correctly. I am sure you won't resent them writing off a portion of your debts at the end of the day.
Take note of Foxy's last paragraph and all should be hunky dory.0 -
Thanks for replies.. last year they refused to increase anything saying we are already at the top of their scale - had to fight to get petrol to and from work (have to commute a fair few miles), they agreed with that but nothing else. So yes cost of living has gone up but I feel that they are just always looking for as much uplift as they can get from us, incidently my OH has been getting very large bonuses that they take so in terms of 'writing of debts', at the end, it will hardly be anything the way things are working out, but fair enough thats what we signed up to.
I wonder foggy brain what u mean by 'a duty to make sure IVA is runnning correctly, the bills/mortgage is being paid they get many many hundreds of pounds from us each month my only issue is I really resent them looking at 'my shopping habbits' as I feel that there is a risk that 'value judgements' will be made regarding where and how often we shop, I hope Foxy stoat is right in that they are not interested in that - thanks for replies makes interesting reading..0 -
Well, if they are anything like my lot, they won't have time to look into my shopping habits ( not that they'd be able to tell from my bank accounts anyway, as I deal in cash only ---- take it out at the beginning og the month and spend from the jar!)0

Yes foggy brain a lesson for me there...cash only...
thanks for reply0 -
Mother hen, I'm 15 months from the end of my IVA and am expecting my final review shortly. I am highly concerned that they try to increase repayments when I've had no payrise for three years and the cost of living is increasing almost daily.
That said, I'm quite happy for them to review my statements; I certainly can't afford to shop in M&S, or Waitrose, etc and there is nothing on there for them to make judgements about. I don't have the cash to shop anywhere other than Aldi etc, and my statements clearly show this.
As with everything in life, if you've nothing to hide you've nothing to worry about!
Incidentally, you mentioned your hubby's bonuses - in my agreement, they agreed to take 50% of any bonuses, leaving me with the remaining 50%. I've not actually had any since the IVA was agreed, but hopefully you have a similar agreement so you can at least keep some of it for a rainy day.
Good luck!Before you ask, yes, I work for a bank, but no, I didn't get a bonus!0 -
thanks smartdriver, for your reply.. good luck your near the end well done.. people keep talking about 'light at the end of the tunnel', I'm not so convinced, as it doesn't feel that way it feels like 'everything breath we take is being watched'... not nice- oh and I do shop at m &s an Waitrose but always buy the 'basic range'.. well it helps me feel a little better..0
