hi all, quick question.
getting rid of an old gas fire (cannon misermatic) and putting in an electric wall mounted one. got all the electrical work covered as my dad is an electrician (and rewired the house when i bought it) just need some help with quotes from the gas side of things.
been told i need a gas safe engineer to take it out, take the connecting pipes (which are visible) out and check everything over. a firm about 10 mins walk away will do this for about £50.
would this be a quick job and is it likely to have more hidden costs?
a friend of my gf's family is also a registered heating engineer and getting a quote off him too, just waiting to find out if i am close enough for him to look at it (gf is from a town about 15 miles away from here)
also how much is a fair price for a boiler service? i have a biasi riva which is connected to 7 radiators

If they are going to do it for £50 I wouldn't bother getting other quotes. If someone has to come 15 miles, they are going to charge you more than £50.00Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0

We would charge £55 for the gas pipe work, and £55 for a boiler service but if it was done on the same visit we would probably charge £90 total.0
