Car insurance and no claims

Hi, I have 6 years no claims but in December my car was reversed into whilst parked at work. The driver admitted fault well he had no choice with CCTV and 2 witness. I'm still waiting for his insurance to cover the cost of repairs and such. But in the meantime my insurance is up for renewal and I want to change insurance companies from Royal sun alliance as they are a bit pricey to someone like Tesco. But when getting quotes I'm not sure If I still can be counted as having 6 years no claims as his insurance hasn't paid up yet? Any advice would be much appreciated because I have had quotes with 6 years no claims and 0 no claims in nearly £1500 difference and I dont want to claim I have 6 years no claims then end up being done for fraud.

Until resolved your insurer will reduce your NCD. So when getting new cover you will only have the reduced NCD to be taken into account.

Explain to your new inurer that you have an ongoing claim and get their agreement to amend your premium and refund any difference to you should your NCD be reinstated.
