Do you really think i come on here to collect thank-yous?

No, I don't think you do, nor do I think you aim to be helpful, in fact I think you aspire to the exact opposite, and you achieve it in spades.

What I *really* don't understand is why you hang around here; no-one seems to find what you say to be helpful, yet you claim to have knowledge that outstrips ours, so why the disconnect?

Oh, and perhaps you can explain what "technically or theoretically correct and thus appear, to the uninitiated" means? The word "uninitiated" is of particular interest: who, in your view, is initiated and who uninitiated? Please be very specific, as I assume you choose your words with care, and are therefore happy to explain their precise meaning to us simple folk.

As for "real life situations", let's perhaps park that one for now, and pick it apart, strand by strand, at a later point.
I am not a financial adviser and neither do I play one on television. I might occasionally give bad advice but at least it's free.

Like all religions, the Faith of the Invisible Pink Unicorns is based upon both logic and faith. We have faith that they are pink; we logically know that they are invisible because we can't see them.

And as for being helpful - many posts on here may well be, according to current retirement dogma for example, technically or theoretically correct and thus appear, to the uninitiated, as helpful. But some do not stand up well when compared to real life situations.

At least the information, advice and suggestions given on this forum enables people to consider the options available to them. Whatever their own personal situation.

Exactly. It has been very useful to me and I thank you all for contributing. That said, I think it's best if we all call this an end to the thread. No need for fighting.
