  • This has already been said but I just wanted to back up the idea of ringing them up. They can see you're trying to be responsible. I've always had luck when it clearly has been an oversight, not when I've gone over my limit in a shoe shop! In the bad old days, obviously. Good luck.

  • Definitely ring them up & just explain. As the limit is £500 & you're only £6 over they may just waive the charge this time as a good will gesture. I had the same thing happen to me with my credit card a few months ago (HSBC). I just rang them up, made a payment to them over the phone to cover the overspend & they didnt charge me anything.

    Obviously I can't guarantee that your card provider will be the same, but you won't know until you ask :)
