oops!!! think my good intention was a bad idea!!

ok i was checking my egg card last night and seen my balance was £497.33 and my credit limit was £755 so seen a decrease limit option and set it to £500 feeling very good about myself - then realised the interest will go on before the next payment comes out!!! this will incur charges ect is there anything i can do????

Do you have any spare cash to ring up and place an extra payment to cover the interest?
    Savings target: £25000/£25000

Can you get a payment in sharpish? Is there a relative or friend who would be understanding and lend you the £50 or whatever to cover it?
I refuse to be afraid of the big bad wolf, spiders, or debt collection agencies; one of them's not real and the other two are powerless without my fear.

As of the last count I have cleared
    [STRIKE]23.16%[/STRIKE] 22.49% of my debt. :(

ive looked at the interest off last month and it was taken on 15th Feb and was £1.57 & £7.75 - would this be about the same for March? so would it have already gone but not shown - i can make a payment on Tuesday for £20 - oh cant believe ive done this i dont want to get charged!!! grrr

If the amount owed has gone down then the interest should be less than last month, but £20 is a good safe choice. Can you borrow from yourself until Tuesday? I notice you have a £40 xmas pot. Move £20 from there and pay youself back? It beats paying charges.

    Hi
I would give Egg a ring and explain, perhaps they can reset the limit for you.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

You know that rule about never phoning a creditor... This is the exception. Ring them up, get them to look and see what you did, explain it's all a mistake. Be human about it and humble and build a rapport with the call handler if you can. They don't have to waive charges, but they are advised to by their guidelines when someone is in hardship. Don't mention guidelines to them, you are essentially after a favour so pulling rank in any way is a bad move. Try it though, be truthful and just explain that you're paying your way out ofyour debts right now and you made the mistake with good intentions and put it right the minute you possibly could and so on. I'm reckoning you have more chance of pulling it off than not.

Aww Gem! I am sure you're not stupid. Made me smile though. Here's how to do it... Hit the button that says "Go Advanced" under the reply box under the thread. Then on the right you will see smilies, at the bottom of those click more, the hug is in the bottom right of the box that pops up. :grouphug:
