You will need to provide a little more info ideally....
What Laptop make and model is it and what version of Windows are you using
What is your router make and model

Has this only just started? Do you use wifi outside the home.
And have you tried the laptop using an ethernet cable to your router

Mine does this occasionally and I'm guessing you have both the wireless and wired connections 'on' on your PC. If you're on Windows 7, go to control panel - network & inernet - network connections. If you have a connection named 'local area connection' then right click on it and disable it. Only do this on the wirelss computer!

This will stop one of the messages.

As to why you're disconnecting, I have found on my laptop, it does it after it's been on for a while so it may be a heat issue a laptop cooling fan/stand might help. At worst, it's a sign your wireless card is on it's way out. You can try updating the driver for the wireless card in 'device manager'?

I tend to let mine just repair itself and get on with it tbh!

Other things to check is if there is a cordless phone base station near your router.
Possible interference from a neighbours wireless can be checked by downloading inSSIDer and scanning for wireless signals.
In the event of a clash the wireless channel should be changed on the router.

i sadly dont have a cable to try with that. router is a bt hub. phone base has been near router without any probs, for last 3 years.
    havent tried it outside. thanks

You have problems now so move the base station.
I take it you don't have an Ethernet cable to try running wired, you should have got one with the hub.
Try scanning for interfering wireless signals as suggested above.

BTW When you get disconnections what does the indicator on the home hub do if anything.

inSSIDer is very good. It allows you to see what is transmitting locally. Pick a channel that has no traffic on it and change bothe the router and laptop to that channel.

When it drops out try opening inSSIDer and check whether it can "see" your router (or anyone elses). It gives an indication of where the problem may lie.

Take a look at the router and see what lights are on. If you turn the router off and on it goes through the setup and all the lights start flashing until it has set itself up. Familiarise yourself with what that looks like.

Early ISP providers used to do this, if they detected no activity over the last XX minutes, they dropped the connection.

That doesn't still go on surely? To be born in mind though. Who's your ISP?
