Hi guys!sHa_wave5.gif
Hoping all is well with everyone here.
Well, the Tiffster is in dire need of your expertise, folks. sos.gif I'd be very grateful for any advice you can give.
I'm tech-info intolerant, (yes, I know I shouldn't be let near a PC!), so if you are able to help me, please would you put it into ''Tiff-speak'' as it were? I've got Vista Home Basic, IE8, Microsoft Security Essentials and use CCleaner and Disk Clean Up regularly, but have the following problems...

1. Whenever I try to delete anything such as files and folders, or rename a folder, or create a new one, or try to manage my docs and favourites, the PC will do the action but the window that opens with the recycling info doesn't go away, even though the green bar has completed. So I open task manager and click on 'end task'. This results in a window opening a few seconds later saying ''Windows Explorer has stopped working.'' or ''Internet Explorer has stopped working.'' It will then restart Windows Explorer/Internet Explorer.

2. CDs and DVDs won't play on my PC. I tried to use ''Fix-it'' and it manages to open the drawer fine but it just won't play. I've looked it up under device manager and it says I'm hallucinating and that the device is working normally!sSc_scarednervous.gif My computer tells me that I have C, D, F, G, H, and I drives. Where'd E go to?!

3. Why does my recycle bin have the column headings Name, Artist, Album, Genre? Anything to do with CDs/DVDs not playing?

4. I really need to free up some space but I'm not sure where to start? When using CCleaner, I'm not sure what's safe to get rid of either.

5. Is it safe to move on to IE9? Or have I done enough damage already? sCo_blink2.gif

I appreciate you taking the time to read this and I hope someone out there will have some answers for me.

As a thank you for your help, I have included the following so that you know that even I am trying to spread techie knowledge! biggrin.gif

I would recommend doing backup of all your data and then doing a reinstall of windows this will then clean up your pc and all you will have to do is put your data back on it.

In regards to ccleaner pretty much everything within the cleaner option can go just untick the option relating to registry.

Even the registaty leaves a load of invalid files behind but due to your limited knowledge I agree best to leave that one.
