Internet fraud

I wonder if anyone else is getting theese calls.

I keep getting calls from an asian sounding man saying that my IP has asked him to call me about my internet running very slow, I used to just put the phone down, but now I keep him hanging on as long as possible until he gets fed-up and he puts the phone down, I say do you meen my ISP he say's no your IP so I say I don't know who he meens what are they called and so it goes on, but of cause he can't name them after a while he puts the phone down.

Now 2 of my son's are getting the same call and the man askes for their details "just to be sure he is talking to the right person" of cause they don't tell him, usualy when you dial 1471 it say's number with held, but twice we have got the phone number 020 4054 5456.

We are all x directory, is there anyone to report this to as I am sure some people maybe caught out by this man.
Drinda.

It's a scam to get you to download some software that "cures" a non existent problem for which they will then charge you

    Hi
I had one of those and just kept giving him random answers to his questions and asking him to repeat himself at least 2 or 3 times per question saying that I couldn't understand him and asked was there any one else in his office who could speak English.
Kept him on the phone for 10 mins till I got a fit of the giggles, never had another call since.
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

This is one of several similar scams. I had one yesterday saying my computer had emailed them about problems it has got. He got me to look in the event viewer which has a list of software problems (every Windows computer will have a load of entries in this, almost all of them for info only, very rarely telling you anything serious).

He was trying to sell a maintenance service. I kept him talking for over 20 minutes. At one stage he asked if he could send me his CV when I told him I worked as a Systems Engineer. He also said he would have to make an appointment to visit my house when I said I wasn't going to let him have remote access to the computer - his expense claim for the trip would have been impressive.

I hope they phone again when I've got even more time to kill.

He gave me the address of their website to check it was OK - onlinepcmasters.com - it offers services no-one needs and may well leave you vulnerable to more malicious attacks.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

My pal had a call from them too and fell for it, but he told me and I managed to get the payment stopped, but had to reformat his HD and re-install XP.
