When was the house built?
FWIW, a year or so ago I sold my Mum's house, built in 1971 by Wimpey. The wiring was all grey-sheath PVC, but the consumer unit had the old block-style fuses with fuse wire instead of MCBs. Didn't have any trouble selling it, although I'm sure if a Home Report had been done it would have attracted the same caution from surveyor.
There's no reason to assume that because the wiring is 'dated' that it's in any way faulty or dangerous.0 -
Thanks folks, put my mind at ease

Unless it is an issue which has been indicated to cause the surveyor to downvalue the property, it should be viewed as an advisory which will require attention in the not too far distant future.I am a mortgage broker. ... should be viewed as an advisory which MAY require attention in the future (but equally, may not require attention).0
