A bit of a long shot I know but my OH thinks the fuse that controls the door mirrors on his C8 has blown. The door mirrors are fixed in the 'parked' position but the manual doesn't say which fuse or fuse number controls the mirrors.

If we could find the part number we could get a part today and see if it is soemhting we cna fix ourselves.

part number? it will just be plain old blade fuses Soolin
do you know where the fuse box(s) is?
with everything switched off you can remove 1 blade fuse at a time and check if its broken (replace each one before removing another to save getting mixed up)
even a quick visual check will ofen show if its blown as you can see the blown wire through the top of the fuse

replace it with the same type and jobs done.
most fuse box covers have a diagram indicating what each fuse relates

do you have the C8 manual? often these will ist where the fusebox is. IIRC my old C5 had one in the glovebox

custardy, you will have to bear with me as I am not techie so can only say what my OH is telling me!

Each of the C8 fuses is different, they are all different types and colours and the manual warns you to put the correct fuse in. There are also several places the fuse could be. The manual has 4 sides of fuse numbers each relating to a different function in the car, and in different fuse junction boxes. Yet none of the fuses appears to be for the mirrors.

OH knows if he waits until tomorrow he can phone the dealer and ask, but he had rather hoped he could fiddle with it today, but our local generic car parts shop want a fuse number.

are the mirrors getting any power? eg can you adjust the mirror glass?
a look at the Ulysses tech,it appears theres a fusebox 'behind' the glovebox that relates to the mirrors

There will (or should) be a picture/symbol of the door mirrors on the fusebox lid, and if the fuse supplying the door mirrors provides a feed to other items then these will also be marked on the fuse box lid.

If the fuse supplying the door mirrors does also provide power elsewhere (eg, leccy windows) and they are still working, that proves the fuse is good and the problem lays elsewhere.
Remember kids, it's the volts that jolt and the mills that kill.

Oh dear. It is only the door mirrors that won't work, they remain in the 'flat against the car' position. The windows work, all the other mechanism works as well. However there is no picture on the fuse box lid.

There are lots of fuses though, all different and each seem to relate to only one thing.

We can't touch the glass in the mirrors as they are flat against the car.

We haven't found anything else (so far) that doesn't work.

ah,so you cant adjust the glass electrically?

can you do a manual overide?
To set the mirrors to fold automatically, do the following:

    1. Move the slider for the for the mirror adjustment selection to its middle position.
    2. Pull the slider back and hold it in this position for about 30 sec.

This will either switch it on or off depending on what setting was already active.
