loads of funnies to upload to site

Hi , I've asked this before . I have loads of funnies (including video clips) sent to me by my Aussie friend and someone told me to upload them onto tube .com but when I went to this site it said I shouldn't upload anything that I didn't own the copyright to. I am totally confused. Please anyone is there an easy way to do this so that I can brighten up my fellow Mse'rs day. Thankyou shrewdal

If you didnt make the video clip then it probably means you dont have the copyright

Hi Scooter thanks for your reply but I would say 75% of the video clips on you tube .com are not owned by the people who upload them. If that was the case and the law was strict on this then very few video clips would be on view. I don't think that all the funny clips shown on this site belong to the people who posted them to. So anyone, is there a way I can upload my funnies to site? thanks shrewdal

Most of these videos are made by people who want others to see them. They just "throw" them into the internet and let anyone have them.

Legally, you can't upload anything to anywhere if you don't have permission from the copyright holder.

Exactly which is why google is now desparately deleting youtube videos by the thousand and they are currently facing lawsuits.

Unless the copyright holder has placed it in the public domain.

What do you mean by public domain? Unless copyright holder gives explicit permission then it doesn't matter where material appears it can't be copied.

They won't get far, in the USA you cannot start a law suit for copyright infringement unless you registered the copyright first.

If you didn't pay the $60 and filed a copy of your work, the courts will do nothing about it.

I think you are talking about Registered Copyright which is not quite the same thing. You do not have to register copyright in the USA or this country so there is nothing to stop a copyright holder suing for copyright infringement whether it is registered or not. The outcome may depend on how easily you can prove you own the copyright (where registration may help but is neither necessary or compulsory) but I think in most cases that shouldn't be too difficult.
