ford ka flexi pipe from cat
i am not knowledgable about cars at all, i have been told by my brother in law that this is what i need
does anyone know if I can buy this separately or will I need to buy a new catalytic converter?
brother in law is a mechanic and tells me that there is nothing wrong with the catalytci converter but he doesnt know if you can buy the flexi pipe separately
I have looked online and cant find one, our local motor parts shop is not open now until Monday
I am concerned how much this is going to cost as I also need new tyres
Ford ka is the basic model and a 05 plate
thanks

On most cars you can buy the flexi part separately. I think once I paid about £50 for the part excluding fitting. The man without a signature.0

If memory serves me right, the Cat itself is a solid unit and comes as one piece. Assuming it's an older model Ka (1996 - 2008ish), the Cat is located at the back of the engine, next to the bulkhead. Cost for the part is likely to be around £70, plus what ever labour is (about an hour at £100?).0

You can cut the old section out and replace it.. but a lot of mainstream "kwikfits" won't be able to do this.0 -

Sorry.. a little more info... Also has manifold attached! so very expensive
However, if your brother in law measures the pipe diameter and buys a flexi-section of pipe and two u clamps, then should only be £30 max0 -
thanks, for your help will look into buying one on Monday
I have had the car from brand new and there is nothing else wrong with it so I am planning on keeping it for at least another year0 -
I will ask him about this, he has been a mechanic for over 20 years so will know what he is doing
I dont think he really appreciates how thick I am when it comes to cars !!!!!!0 -

ok thanks will get back to you
will ask OH to ring him tomorrow, he told me he could fit the flexi pipe if I could get one?
Is this a relatively easy job for a qualified mechanic?0
