  • You can bank the module credits that you have and 'intercalate' I think it is called, then return at a later date.

Its your decision, but I would advise against having a baby midway through your course, just incase you can never return to it and eventually when you do get back to work you may only be able to earn a fraction of what you might have been able to earn.

I had my second baby part way through my degree - but I was studying part-time. I finished one year in the may, delivered in July, and then went back in Sept, and took DD with me and she used to breastfeed happily during lectures!
But another thing to consider is baby expense whilst being a student, also childcare. I was actually getting paid, as I was employed by NHS whilst undertaking my studies. Think very carefully.
  • Hi,

I'm 6 months pregnant, hoping the babe arrives @ Easter break! :-)
You can handle as much as you are prepared to take on, so get organised & go for it!
I am juggling FT uni, work, a child, pregnancy & life in general. I take more naps than I used to but wouldn't have it any other way.
Babies due on or after April 1st 2007 mean that you are now entitled to NINE months maternity leave/pay from work which will help balance uni.
Also, there is a piece of the regulations that entitles you to take up to 10 "keeping in touch" days w/ work & still maintain your maternity leav status.
    Hope that helps.
    :-)
