Rant about P & O Ferries Booking System when 'spending' points.

Have complained about this numerous times to P & O (by telephone and email)but to no avail. Just need to have a rant about it.

We travel often on the Northern Ireland/Scotland route, so use their frequent traveller scheme i.e. Quay Awards. Good scheme and points build up quickly.

Now, here is the downfall. When booking online, points can be earned on the fare calculated- great - but! This means to 'spend' points previously earned, you have to phone their booking line (so cost of phone call and loss of chance to earn Greasy Palm or other such points) and are charged a £10 telephone booking fee on top of the fare calculated for doing so!

Yes, they are fully aware of this and no, according to conversations I have had, they are not likely to change the online booking set-up to accomodate the points (even though their online system has recently had an overhaul), or waive the £10 telephone booking fee for those being forced to phone if they want to 'spend' them, despite this being something that not surprisingly many people complain about (as stated to me by an operator who deals with Quay Awards enquiries).
