Rough Idea of how much IS

Im aware that we will no longer receive WTC and will no longer need to pay council tax, Ive read through various site but i canot for the life of meunderstand what we may be getting, very confused about personal allowance etc, just really after a rough idea so i can play with the figures

sorry dont mean to be rude but why can your wife not take off her 6 months maternity leave and then express her breastmilk and you feed the baby when at work? just a suggestion. afterall do you really want to be on a lower income than you are if your wife is brining home a wage?There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

to quote myself. sorry that did seem a little harsh. but also have you tried any of the soya milks?
my baby was intolerant to something in normal baby formula and we used a milk called 'omneo comfort' (now known as comfort. made by cow and gate) and it sorted her out a treat.There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -

the thing with babies is they are crafty little so-and-sos and will refuse anything other than what they like but they soon learn if they cant have the thing they want then som ething else will suffice.
you need to try all avenues of getting him to take a bottle before going down the route of claiming IS as you wont have a household income equal to what a wage would bring in.There's someone in my head, but it's not me0 -
yes we have exhausted all routes, this is our 3rd child so we are not new parents.
Wife is no longer at work now so will have to see what if anything materialises0 -

How sad is this ???
Breast feeding mothers being sent back to work to support the family !??? I myself am managing as my partner has a job. If he were to loose his job and I had to go back to work I would be gutted. For me to BF my child is very very important.
I cant stand the thought that our society wont help people when they need it the most. if a child needs feeding from source - I cant think of a much more important role.
to the OP please please check https://www.entitledto.co.uk as you may be able to get more than you think.
also to the op - employers need to accomodate breast feeding mothers and allow them time off to do so. I know this does not really help though as you never know when they might need it !!

It is possible to breastfeed and work though- especially once the baby is a bit older. I did this with my 2nd from when she was 7 months old- fed her before and after work, she wouldnt ever take a bottle
Someone I know went back to work when the baby was 3 months old- another baby who refused bottles- and popped into the nursery at lunchtime to feed. As they get older they dont need feeding so often0 -

It might be for some babies and mothers but not all. For me it wasn't possible. And it isn't possible for the OP in this case either. Babies are all different and their needs are different.
The recent changes to extend SMP for 9 months is a step in teh right direction. But I do think there should be much more support for mothers who want to spend their first few years with their children (breast feeding or not !)0
