They usually fetch the same sort of price as an ex local authority house, but maybe more if you have managed to disguise the utilitarian appearance that some of them have.
There is no need to worry that buyers will be put off just because it was once a police house. If it is a desirable property it stands the same chance of selling as any other.0 -
I guess it depends which area you live in, but the ex police houses near me are more expensive that the newer houses in the same area. The police houses are well built and spacious compared with the more modren ones.0

Thanks both for your replies ( very helpful )
True they are a lot more spacious, and very well built, solid houses. You get loads of land with these aswell, i think that was what sold it to us in the first place.
And unlike council houses where you get say 150 or more houses the same making up an estate which are easy to value, you only get 2 in a village or town and sometimes the old sergants house which is the slightly larger and detached. This is another problem i have found as local estate agents have said it is hard to value because they have nothing to compare it with, and they seem to be miles apart price wise.
Where do i go from here ! Top price, middle or what?
Please help!0 -
Guess it depends on how desperate you are to move. Given the slow moving market the top price may not be realistic. You could always consider selling by auction if the property is hard to value.

Funny, I'm in the opposite position...I'm desperately wanting to buy the ex police house in our village!! Am just desperately hoping that the local authority value it under the going market rate so I can afford it!!! Yes, it's well built and has lots of land, and I love it!!0

I don't think that the LA can value it under the market price. If you think about it, the LA only has Council Tax Payers money to spend. So if they sell below market value, they are effectively diddling the Council Tax payers.
That said ... what is market valueA property is only worth what a buyer is prepared to pay.
My guess is that the LA will advertise at the market rate, but consider any serious offer.
HTHWarning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0
