I'm trying to get insurance on a 2nd car to use as a run about. My company car is'nt really suitable for lugging garden tools, mowers and fishing stuff around in.
I do around 30K a year in the company car. Up until i got my company car (about 4 years ago) - i was insured on my own private car, and had over 10 years NCD.
All the insurance company's i have tried so far for a quote say my previous NCD has expired, and that my company car use counts for nothing until i no longer have it!
This seems nuts!
Has anyone got any advice...?

Go back to the company that last insured you four years ago and see what they offer.
Others are right though - your NCD usually expires after two years, sometimes 3. Are you going to be the only driver on the second car?0 -
They were the frist company I tried...
I will be the only driver.0 -

This is happening to me too! I have been driving 14+ yrs, had full protected no claims up to 2007 then got a lease car through NHS and now I want to purchase said car they are all saying my NCD's have expired, I have got a letter from Lease Co to send to prove of my insurance for lease period but it's proving to be ridiculous. The prices are between £1000-2000 for me and hubby! What's going on in the world
