When i sign in to MSE and tick the box that says remember me next to sign in details why doesn't it remember me?

    It's most probably your cookies being deleted every time you go to a different site or close your browser.

    What browser are you using? (it will be in settings somewhere but if you give us the browser someone will know exactly where)

    I use FF and run windows 7 if that is any good

    It could just be a corrupt cookie - you could remove the mse one (or just delete the lot and start again) - go to Tools>Options>Privacy tab in FF and change to "Use Custom settings for history", then click Show Cookies and then Remove All Cookies. Then try closing and reopening FF and navigating to MSE and signing in again.

    On your menu bar, Firefox>Preferences>Privacy tab

    Does this happen only on MSE? Does it happen after you logout or also when you just close your browser window?
