I have been reading a couple of threads which has made me doubt if I filled in the tax credit form correctly...
I work in a school and belong to the LG pension scheme, should I have declared my contributions?
Also DH currently not working and claiming IB, he has a private pension too and still makes small contributions.
We also make a tiny monthly charity donation which is gift-aided - should this be on the form somewhere?
Thanks for reading

The LG pension will be deducted from your salary before tax, so your P60 income will already be reduced by the pension contribution. So as long as you declare your P60 income this is correct.
Private pensions and gift aid donations should be claimed for using form TC825, they will reduce your income for tax credits. http://www.hmrc.gov.uk/forms/tc825.pdf.
Read the form carefully and don't forget to "gross up" the amounts. Eg gift aid donations of £80 means you put £100 on the form, inc the tax relief, and similarly for personal pension contributions.0 -
Thanks zagfles, I always wait for my P60 before sending off the forms so should be ok there - I will read the form you suggested regarding the rest.0

Just a quick point re the gift aid - you said "we" make the contribution, if your husband doesn't pay tax then he won't be eligible for gift aid. It's important that it's your donation, not his and not joint. It's OK if it comes out of a joint account but it should be registered as your donation.
This doesn't apply to pensions, you can get tax relief even if you don't pay tax (up to £3600 gross, £2880 net).0 -
oh sorry yes! was using the royal "we" there
