I was able to just send my current tax code notice in as proof of ID, so didnt need to worry about photocopying anything.

Make sure you are on the list of Registered Electors for your home address.
  • My wife has had major problems in trying to activate her account.
Firstly, when she was applying, she was told on the phone that, in addition to an account in her married name, she could also link an account that was in her maiden name provided she sent a copy of her marriage certificate. About a week later, she received a letter saying that she couldn't. However, this appeared to delay the setting up of the direct debit with the account in her married name. She logged in on several occasions, to find the direct debit arrangement was not set up. She telephoned the customer service department, and was given a date when this would be available. On that date, she tried to access her account to transfer money in, only to find that Icesave had closed it because there was no money in it! She was advised to send a cheque, which she did, but STILL cannot access her account a week later.
This started more than a month ago, and she has lost a month's interest on her money, as it has been on current account waiting to be transferred in!
She has just registered a formal complaint with them.

You'll probably get an answer from Iceland in Icelandic.
