Could anyone tell me if this is as good as it sounds and if so is it worth getting the larger capacity for the extra £50?
It's on offer at Curry's for £379 instead of £499.
I'm looking for a laptop with a good battery life, and not too heavy. General use, email, facebook, surfing, excel, word, photo's and listening to music (Spotify). No games. Needs to be wifi which I think both of these are.

Either seem ok for your use, but be prepared to delete all the bloatware that they come with, then create a backup disk without the bloat. They will both come with lots of stuff which are not necessary, so start as you mean to go on, slim down then enjoy. Remove McAfee get AVAST/AVIRA/MSE remove all the bing/amazon/toshiba/connectivity doctor/...etc and then enjoy. Yes they are both wireless.4.8kWp 12x400W Longhi 9.6 kWh battery Giv-hy 5.0 Inverter, WSW facing Essex . The processors in these are fairly slow and, despite dedicated graphics, these are slow too. I'd say the cheaper one is better value but depends on your budget. And you can get cheap warranty extensions at the Toshiba website.
Compare it with this Toshiba from argos http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5084760/c_1/1|category_root|Office%2C+PCs+and+phones|14418968/c_2/2|14418968|Laptops+and+netbooks|14419039/Trail/searchtext%3EGREAT+DEALS+ON+LAPTOPS+AND+NETBOOKS.htm
This has a much better processor and, provided you don't mind the integrated graphics, also has a 2 year warranty in the box.If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
I'd say the £329 one would be fine enough for what you want.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
I think a nice laptop0

The processor isn't that much different in real speed terms, and the "intel" is NOT "much better" or superior than the Athlon processor as stated, both processors can hold their own.
The i3 is the lowest of relatively new Intel " i " processors, but the Athlon dual core is a match for it, you will not notice any speed difference at all.
While you say you don't want to play games, the Graphics are much better (ATI Radeon) than the Argos Intel graphics - the £329 model at PC World/Dixons/Currys is a steal....was considering saving up to get my son this also for university.0 -
Dont know if it will happen but Ive been looking at the same laptop from argos and at the bottom it says the price only valid until today,so be quick.I was looking at this one from tesco http://direct.tesco.com/q/R.207-7201.aspx and after much decision decided to go for the tesco one .0

For me a laptop should come with a HDMI port so that would prevent me from purchasing it.
That's because I connect my laptop to my TV. If that's not an important consideration or if you can get the VGA output to connect to the TV and don't mind the extra hassle of having to have separate audio and video cables then press ahead.0
