I have just got of the phone from Talk Talk Customer Care, they advised me as of next month they will be offering line rental at £3 off BT prices, I said that I use 18866 so I wouldn’t be able to change, but he said you can still used other companies.
Sounds to good to be true??
Has anyone else heard of this deal?

£3 off per month or per quarter?
The former is only faintly tempting and the latter is most certainly not worth the (probable) hassle.30 years, 217 days!0 -
it was £3 per month,
that should at least pay for my phone calls for a month.

You should get written confirmation from the TALK TALK man to the effect that you would not be prevented from using other service providers should you decide to take their exchange line rental offer.
Also, I suspect that you would be tied to them for 12 months. Then it might be the case that if you subsequently revert to BT for your exchange line rental that you might be tied to them for a minimum of 12 months. In addition, you didn't say in your original post what the tariff would be, ie is it inclusive of any free calls either on peak or off peak?
Regarding the £3 reduction in line rental. Is it £3 off BT's standard line rental of £11.50 per month for non direct debit payments, or is it £3 off £10.50 per month which is BT's tariff for direct debit payments?0 -
I have just spoken to TalkTalk and they say that they are in talks with B T about the line rental and that it will be later this year but cannot yet give a date nor a price, only to say that they will be cheaper than B T, and when ithey have a date they "will shout it from the rooftops"

Yes, I'm sure they will. Talk Talk are ok I reckon.0
