AVG may be good, but a much more comprehensive all singing and all dancing version comes from Kaspersky Labs under the guise of AOL's "Active Virus Shield". It even shows that Kaspersky make it! :j

Tip: accept the install defaults - the unselected option is the not very easy to use built-in Firewall so I would use Comodo as well as AVS (see below).
And for the only Firewall to score 100% (as far as I know) in tests - yes it's free!
