2 yr old tv faulty

Hi everyone. Looking for a little advice. I have a Sony tv which is around 2 years old. It has developed a fault which after a bit of research seems to be common with the model I have.
I have no receipt. I am usually so careful but have misplaced it!
I contacted Sony and they will tell me to send my receipt with a Sony authorised repair centre inspection report to them and they will see what they can do.
Trouble is the nearest centre is 244 miles from me and it costs to have it looked at! I have no money to either pay for the inspection or to get it 244 miles & back again!
It was bought from comet. Does anyone know if they would give a copy of the bill from their system?

Take the matter up with comet, they will be glad to give you the details if you say you will take it up with Sony. Did you pay by card, there will be history from a bank statement that is allowed for faulty goods.

Ask your bank, they should be able to get that for you. I think your best bet is to talk to Comet.

But the bank statement wouldnt have the product details on it would it, all it would say is £600 paid to comet or whatever. You would not be able to prove that it was the same TV you bought would you?

    Hi wen-tom,

I can look into arranging a replacement receipt for you, but I would require a few more details. If you can e-mail in to me using the link provided below, advising me of your full name, address and which store you purchased the TV from, then I should be able to locate more information. When you e-mail in please quote the reference 144505, so I can link the e-mail to this post.

We do offer a fixed price repair service for out of guarantee products, you can view details here: http://www.comet.co.uk/static/services/faults-repairs/faults-repairs

    Hope this helps
