Trying to get Egg to remove incorrect information from credit file

Egg have recently messed up and changed our address by mistake. The first we knew about it was when we couldn't log onto our account as our postcode didn't match their records.
We phoned up but couldn't go through security as they had different information so we had to write to them and give our address which they promptly changed back so it was correct.
However, they then linked the false address to me on my credit file, despite assurances that this would not happen and to cap it all, because we were now linked with a new address where we weren't on the elctoral roll, they halved the credit limit with immediate effect - meaning I had to make a large payment into the account to take it below the new reduced limit.
That was a month ago and I've been unable to get them to remove the false address despite numerous emails and phone calls. Trying has just resulted in a new entry on the linked addresses section where they have linked to the address again.
Can anybody advise me as to what action I can take against Egg to make them correct their mistake and remove this address. I've tried politely asking and pointing out their error but it's like hitting your head against a brick wall.
Is this what we can expect from them now that Barclaycard have bought them?

Write a formal complaint.
If you do not have recourse from them in 8 weeks take your complaint to the Ombudsman.0 -

Thanks both, I've got a complaint started but wondered if there was something else. Just can't understand why they can't see it's an admin error on their part and remove this false address. I've added a note to the entries on experian but that justs gets passed to egg for comment so that takes ages as well. I get the feeling that Egg staff, who were excellent in the past, have given up now the cards have been sold to Barclaycard and are no longer interested in sorting out issues. Can't blame them when their jobs may disappear.0
