Mis-sold car insurance policy!! HELP!!

My family recently took out a car insurance policy with a company called BE WISER. When discussing the policy over the phone the agreed terms were to pay a deposit of £54 and then follow this up with monthly installment payments of £17.10 a month for 9 months.
The policy holder checked the account that the payments were intended to be coming from today to find that the £54 deposit has been taken as well as £171.10, which wasn't what was stated.
After calling the company they admitted a mistake has been made but gave the solution as a possible refund of the deposit and not the full amount so that we can pay in installments.
Can anyone please advise on the best course of action.

Best course of action = complain if unhappy. It was their error so they should put it right and revert to the original terms under which the policy was sold.0 -
From what you say, you have NOT been missold insurance, they have simply messed up the payment.
Complain to the insurer/broker (depending on who took the money) and insist that the reimburse the payment that should not have been taken plus any bank charges incurred as a result0 -
Thank you both, I will definitely get the policy holder to request for full repayment plus the bank charges that we discovered have also been incurred0
