Comparing items at supermarkets

I was in the supermarket today and the bottles of Helmans tomato sauces were reduced and I thought I would check the own brand bottle I usually buy to see if was a good deal - but on the labels, the own brand sauce was marked as 500ml and the Helmans one was 430g - its hard enough trying to work out the best value as it is, without the shops mixing up grams and ml!
So to anyone walking down the sauce aisle of Morrisons today who saw a crazy lady with her eyes closed waving around a bottle of sauce in each hand - that was me trying to work out which one was heavier!

I smile because I have no idea what is going on

But don't supermarkets also show the price per unit, in this case it would probably be per 100g? I'm certain that Tesco do at least.

I have been known to take stuff to the scales in the fruit n veg section and weight them there0

1ml is roughly 1g.0

Where I got the Helmans bottle from wasnt a shelf, it was one of those displays they have randomly around the place in morrisons with just a big print out of the price on an A4 piece of paper - I didnt think to check the shelf label on the sauce aisle when I went to look at the own brand oneI smile because I have no idea what is going on0

I'm the crazy lady in Morrisons who is always holding things at arms length and squinting at them because I have forgotten my glasses!
:rotfl:"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0 -
To be fair to the store, it is the manufacturer that is responsible for the labelling. I find it very frustrating as well.0

Even morrisons have the £0.00 per 100g or 100 ml on the shelf edge ticket on special displays this is often hidden behind the larger bargin come buy me type price tickets which are meant to catch our eye. The price tickets on there edge or turned over if memory serves me right were ones that the pricing team need to update as they are now wrong but serve to allow the shelf stackers where to put products in the mean time.
