hi guys,
at the moment tescos have a deal on printers £10 off a £50 quid or over:D there's a few to pick from but i don't know which one is best, any advice would be of help. i would not need to use it much, photo's maybe? printing ( yes ) just everyday use nothing major, wifi, to be honest i would rarely use it, most of it would be for grandchildren. i am just worried about the inks drying out.. it's a long time since i had a printer and then the inks used to dry out if you did not use them regulary and i don't want anything where ink cost are major:( or would i be better investing in another model other than the ones on offer. many thanks in advance :T:T:T

You could always try this offer from misco of a laser and colour printer being sold together as a package.

If you just want it for printing and are not bothered about photos get a laser. They use toner rather than ink and don't dry out.

I got a Canon laser printer over three years ago and, because I don't use it very often, I'm still on the original toner cartridge. It still prints perfectly.

Here's the cheapest one Tesco sell:

New laser printers tend to come with half full toner cartridges but they're still enough for at least 1000 A4 sheets.

The Samsung is indeed a fantastic printer. My first toner has just ran out after about two years with extensive document printing.

But...! (a) It is not colour (Mono only) and (b) the replacement toner is around £49

In truth I would have spent much more than £49 on ink with the amount of printing completed so its a good bet

    Hope that helps

  • The only caveat to this is don't take any notice of " chance ink cartridge after 300 pages" its utter nonsense. My HP printer went on for appriximatley 1,000 pages over a 2 year period! Yes, granted, like you, I don't use it that much but the stats are there in the flesh...

I got an EPSON from tesco was a nightmare. It would run out of one color (they were all separate) and stop printing. Twice i got original refills and it rejected them as not original. It would not even print B&W if one of the colors was finished.
    Binned it after a month.
Got an old HP from a relative and works just fine.
Should have Googled the epson first as lots of people have the same problems.
