Hi
My son took out a 24 month orange mobile contract in January 2011 and has been told today (18.03.11) that he has been made redundant.
How can we approach orange to cancel his mobile contract as he can not now afford it. He is also having to sell his car!!
Any advice will be gratefully received.

You probably won't be able to cancel it without paying the remainder of the contract.
What I would do is call Orange and explain the situation, they may be able to help...payment holiday, lowering his tariff etc.0 -
Thanks Gordon Hose..... I will speak to him this evening.....0

HI Gailemma,
Sorry to hear about your Son's circumstances. As has been previously posted he will be unable to disconnect however there are options available to him. The best as has been stated would be to request a Temporary Disconnection. He will be able to do so once 6 months into the agreement and can set it for a maximum of 6 months. Based on the dates you've provided he will have to pay for the next 3 months before he is eligible but this way it will give him some time to find his feet again.
Alternatively he can request immediate disconnection, however the remaining contract charges will be applied to the account. With it being so early in a 24 month agreement I can see this being quite high so with a repayment plan he would probably end up paying more on a monthly basis.
Hope this helps!
