Car insurance help

I was with swift cover car insurance and cancelled due to my car being off the road, they wanted a payment for something-i dont know what...i paid them every month and wasnt in arrears with them at all. i then got a temporary car and went with admiral, i then had to cancel because i lost my job and had little money, they wanted a couple of hundered, i paid them every month no debt was occured with them.
thats 2 car insurance companies i owe to. probably for just ending insurance with them...not because i owe them...
what i wana know is...can these companies 'do something' to make it that insurance quotes i get in the future are affected ie: very high prices, you know like ure credit gets affected if u dont pay you catalogues! help please......

    Doubt you have been blacklisted just because you cancel early!

    (You can check by doing anonymous quotes online and seeing if they charge you less when they think they're quoting M.Mouse)
