Morphy Richards Vacuum Problem

A week ago my fantastic Miele Cat & Dog died :( I couldn't afford a new Miele so had a look in Argos at alternatives. As I have 2 long haired collies that shed bucket loads of hair, a pet friendly machine was essential. I picked the Morphy Richards Pet bagless cleaner.

However I'm really disappointed with it. It came with two heads - one for hard floors and one for carpets. It's ok on hard floors, but poor compared to the Miele. It's absolutely useless on carpets.

If you use the hard floor attachment on carpet, it just rolls the hair into balls and won't suck them up. If you use the turbo brush for carpets, it has a roller inside with bristles on. That doesn't suck either, and the hairs just get wound round the roller. Then it blocks, so you have to stop and pull all the hairs out the roller. Neither head managed to suck up some pencil shavings where my children had missed the bin.

The only attachement that will suck up the hairs from carpet is the small upholstery tool. However, you can't do large rooms on your hands and knees with a tiny upholstery tool as it's just not practical.

Morphy Ricahards said there is no problem with it, as a sheet of paper stuck on the end of the hose with no heads on. They didn't appreciate that I want to hoover up hairs with it, not stick bits of paper on it. They refuse to accept it is faulty as nobody else has complained.

Can I take it back to Argos for a refund? It has been used but I'm really not happy with it. I have tried calling Argos but I can't find a human person there - just automated systems.
Here I go again on my own....

yeah take it back....not as described, you would expect a pet vacumm to clear up dog hair and by the sound of it yours does not

Had a similar problem a few years back with a very expensive panasonic, which I was told instore would easily deal with pet/human hair. I have 2 small, non shedding terriers and myself and DD have long hair. After 6 months or so it became apparent that it couldnt cope. After lots of complaining they did replace the unit....its still useless.

Not as useless as the bagless Vax in Argos now which works in a fashion for 10 minutes then cuts out for an hours rest....

I've been looking at reviews on the web, and have found plenty bad ones with the same problem and no good ones.

I only wish I'd read them before panicking and going out and buying the first hoover I could find after mine died!
