Suspicious Bill from thePhoneCo-op?

Has anyone recently received an unexpected bill (minor amount) from The Phone Co-op they weren't expecting or couldn't recall having signed up to any kind of service?
I have received today a bill for £1.01 for 'one off charges' of £0.83 for an 0800 number that we (or rather my late husband) allegedly set up in 2007.
I have always dealt with all things financial in our home. To my knowledge we have never used The Phone Co-op, my husband was an employee, we didn't run our own business, so I am highly skeptical of the bill?
To give them credit, the customer service team have cancelled the bill today and disconnected the 0800 line service we allegedly took out.
I am just very suspicious of the whole thing (perhaps unnecessarily) and just wondered if anyone out there has had a similar experience recently?

What are you suspicious about? Mistakes happen. They've apologized and put it right. What more do you want?
The Phone Co-op has been going for years. I used to have an account with them. Never had any problems at all, though their prices weren't the cheapest so eventually I found I wasn't using it and closed the account.0 -
They are a very reputable outfit with excellent customer service.0

catfish50 - not sure where in my message I stated I wanted something? If you are going to make narky comments I'd rather you kept them to yourself. I was merely asking for feedback - I'm not actually after anything. This bill was addressed to my husband who died last year and I just thought the whole thing was rather odd.
OldGreyFox - many thanks - as I've not been 'flooded' (!) with messages of similar experiences, I'll write this off as some kind of admin mix up on their part.0 -
I agree CurleyGirlie, you are quite right to be suspicious I have just received a bill along the same lines for £1.03. The call was allegedly made in January and there is an account number for me. I have never signed up with them and intend to find out more.
To other replies I would remind them of the Bank scams where identical looking names are used!0 -
Have you previously ever been a customer of Saga Telecom? They took over the billing of their old CPS accounts and this may still be active and perhaps used recently by mistake?
Do get in touch with them and see what they say.0 -
I certainly haven't ever been a member of Saga Telecom Stuart but after 18 years of widowhood I have come across many, many efforts to extract money. Was caught once - never again!0
