cashpoint problem

Hi guys, i have a cardcash account with Halifax. Over a month ago i was in town and used a HSBC cashpoint, through lazyness, to get £20 cash. The machine took ages to process my request, flashed up a message that card issuer was taking too long to respond and spat my card back, slightly damaged with a 'dent' in the middle. OK, i thought, walked to the nearest Halifax cashpoint where i found that my acc had been debited by the £20. Had to go into my branch the nxt day when open where i filed a claim form, was advised that they would investigate...and would get my money back if the HSBC cashpoint had money left over at end of day. Have visited Halifax since where they say they are still waiting to hear.
I know its only £20 but what are the chances of me getting it back? Has anyone else had to go through this process?

Could take up to 6 weeks.
It is always the large disputes which are investigated first and they will eventually work down to yours.
Some banks have a policy where if they believe the customer is telling the truth they can issue a refund immediately and then claim it back if/when it is returned to your account for amounts £20 and under.
