new hutches help please

morning everyone

I've got two guinea pigs and two small rabbits that have lived in two hutches over the winter. With the warmer weather coming up we're looking at upgrading the hutches with runs attached to them (currently they get a couple of hours running round the kitchen/dining room - not all together obviously:eek:)

I've seen a couple of ebay (mse obviously) and was just wondering on opinions. I like the triangle type ones like this:

but OH doesnt think it will be suitable? They'd have full access to the outside all day.

There is another one but I can't find a picture of it. Its a double hutch but with the living space on top and a run area on the bottom, with a ramp to get down. I think the rabbits would be ok in this, but I dont think my piggies would be brave enough!

any thoughts?! x

If you are feeling creative enough you can build one to your own specifications for much cheaper than those prices.

    How about something like these:

    6ft x 2ft x 2ft version for bunnies:

    4ft x 2ft x 2ft version for guineas:

Triange runs don't offer enough height for bunnies. They can also be awkward to get the animals in and out of.

    I effectivly have 2 of those ^
I bought a combined run and twin hutches, and added a partition as at the time my 2 rabbits didn't get on. If your Piggies are bonded, and your rabbits too (I wouldn't recommend mixing the species ever, as ther have very different dietary needs) you could do something similar, and have the pigs one end, and the rabbits on the other. Both my rabbits are very happy to use a ramp (one of them darts up and down over and over again, so must really enjoy it!) and a friend of mine has piggies that are also very happy in a hutch with ramps. You might have to show them how to use it at first.
I also added hinges and clips to my ramps so that the rabbits could be closed in the hutches at night-we have a lot of foxes and badgers here and they will dig under runs to get at small furries :(
Please excuse my bad spelling and missing letters-I post here using either my iPhone or rathr rubbishy netbook, neither of whch have excellent keyboards! Sorry!

My runs for my piggies have been bought from pet shops, and I can't remember the name but think some may be Trixie.

I have 3 separate runs for 7 piggies: two triangle ones with square runs attached, and a normal sort of hutch with square run attached. We had to modify the latter slightly as it was meant to have a ladder up to the house bit, but these two piggies couldn't work it out :rotfl:

Altogether they each have around 6ft to run about in :D
