uploading dvd content to main frame computer
Comments
-
Hi I am not technically minded so please be gentle with me. I got an old family video transferred to dvd and would like to upload it onto my main frame computer. I have an old nero 6 programme and cant figure out how to do it. It lets me copy onto another disc but I cant see where to just copy onto computer. I have had a lot of help from this board before and I would really appreciate advice with this. Thanks shrewdalx
I think what you want to do is transfer the video files from the DVD to your PC.
This is easy to do and doesn't need Nero 6.
Instructions are for windows XP, Vista and windows 7 are a variation on the theme:
Create a folder in My Documents called Family Video
1) Start>My Documents right click anywhere and select New> Folder. A new folder will be highlighted, just type Family Video and hit enter.
2) Double click the Family video folder and it will open and be empty
don't close this window.
Open the DVD so that you can see the files
3) Insert the DVD
4) It should autostart, so select Open folder to view files from the pop-up menu.
5) You may see Audio_TS and Video_TS folders. The audio_TS folder is usually empty. Double click the Video_TS folder
6) What you are looking for is a bunch of files like
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
(And so on)
7) In this window Edit > Select All then Edit > Copy
Now paste the files to the family video folder from step 2
8) Right click anywhere in the empty Family Video window and select Paste
9)This may take some time as video files are huge but the files should transfer.
10) Job done
To play the files back on your PC, double click VIDEO_TS.IFO.
If you have the full nero 6 it will open with Nero Showtime.
Otherwise it will open with Windows media player but I always found this to "stutter".
Better than WMP, install VLC media player and use that - Start VLC media player and select open folder then navigate to the Family Video folder.
