I bought a container of Tesco Vitamin B tablets recently. Nothing wrong with the pills but the container was about one fifth full, the rest was packaged air. How come they are allowed to use such big containers for so little content? How many other products are deceptively packaged?

Does the packaging state how many tablets there are in the bottle? It might be wasteful of Tesco to use such a big bottle (though they might get them made cheaper by limiting to a range of standard sizes) but surely if you buy a pack marked 30 tablets and you get 30 tablets, the size of the bottle doesn't really matter.0

There are 180 tablets in the container. It is opaque, so you can't see how empty it is. to give an idea of the size, I put it in a standard mug and it is a good 3cm higher than the mug, with not that much room around the sides. IMHO there is no reason to have a that big a container, other than the psychological aspect of making you think you are getting more than you are. There's no other packaging, they could rattle around happily in a pot one third of the size and still have room to spare. It seems that Tesco assumes the harrassed shopper thinks she is getting a jumbo portion.
