Not part of the MOT test so no, you knew you were buying a cat d vehicle and should have chcked it over properly really to be honest, thats the risk you run when buy such cars really and should only consider doing it if you dont mind things like this.

When you turn the car on, the airbag light (and other warning lights) should light up as part of the electronic pre-checks. Did the OP not notice this?

Ok, so deathtrap is a little extreme - we had only just found out the news and were completely stressed to the hilt. We feel let down that we were sold a car that was 'fiddled' - it turns out that the wiring was cut to the airbags so that the warning light would not show and you can see that the covers for some of the side bags have been glued back on - surely we should have been notified - is it illegal to drive a car without airbags when it was built with them? I just don't know where we stand with this car now - I don't even want to think how much it would cost to replace them - what do you get for scrap these days....!?

We have been well and truly bitten - just goes to show, if seems to good to be true - it probably is!

You might be surprised. If you put it on ebay with a full description of the car, CAT D, with no airbags, you may still get a decent price for it.

Somebody might use it for spares and repairs for another car, repair it properly....

    BTW, what car is it?
