do you mind refurbs to potentially get more system for your money? (most refurbs come with a 12 month warrenty same as new laptops)Drop a brand challenge
on a £100 shop you might on average get 70 items save
10p per product = £7 a week ~ £28 a month
20p per product = £14 a week ~ £56 a month
30p per product = £21 a week ~ £84 a month (or in other words one weeks shoping at the new price)0 -
thanks not realy bothered just theres a lot to chose from.

I am no expert but this looks a great deal and well below your budget from Dabs £279!!

They have just knocked £50 off it and the reviews look really great and it has 250gb of memory. I am considering buying one myself even though my current laptop is o/k. It is also new so battery life should be good unlike the refurbished laptops.0 -

£379 from HP itself OR

Bump in specs for £444.99 from ebuyer.
Looks like a macbook without the shiny apple or the happiness of OSX.
Alternatively, save more and get a macbook pro:exclamatiTo the internet.. I need to complain about something!0 -

EDIT: Suggestion 1. Dell XPS 15. Price £529 until 23/3/11. Why? Graphics card is a Class2 card (Class 1 is best) which is good for the price.
Here it is (save £134) http://www.dmxdimension.com/recommend/N00XL510
Suggestion 2. At the top end of your budget. £699 until 23/3/11 (save £304) Same graphics card as above but lots of everything else.
http://www.dmxdimension.com/recommend/N00XL504
Suggestion 3. A 17inch screen, similar graphics and processor. A cashback deal (only recommended if you are persistent!)
£550 http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_L670-14P_970852.html
with cheap warranty extensions (if that's important) http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&toshibaShop=false& stockcom.broadvision.session.new=Yes&PRODUCT_ID=1086896&tab=2#2
EDIT: out of stock
Suggestion4. This 17inch one is in stock. As Suggestion3. (slower processor) basically. http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_L670-14M_1040587.html
Cheap warranty extensions http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.com/innovation/jsp/SUPPORTSECTION/discontinuedProductPage.do?service=UK&tab=2&toshibaShop=true&BV_UseBVCookie=yes&PRODUCT_ID=1086893#2
or with 6GB ram £500 http://www.saveonlaptops.co.uk/Toshiba_Satellite_Pro_L670-14M_1040588.html
Suggestion5. Lastly, to compare with the first Dell. Here's an Acer with a very good CPU, RAM and disk with good graphics card. £584.

go to pcworld and look at the new apple mac start at approx £600, dont buy hp as they are crap with warranties , Dell have some good offers at the mo !0

Stretch your budget a bit more and get:

Even for a refurb, Apple's have the best customer service. As for gaming, well depends what you want, but I believe boot camp works well for non native osx games.
Dell's may be "cheap" but you get what you pay for, especially with customer service.
Found another @ better specs for £20 more than whats above!
