Card payment taken twice

Hi, I used the self scan till at the supermarket last night and paid by card. I pulled my card out of the reader too quickly (although I had put my pin in and it had accepted it) and the machine asked me to reinsert my card, which I did.
But the payment has been taken twice. If I take in my bank statement showing this and my receipt will they refund me this without any problems?

They will, but I doubt it will be instant. Probably take a few days. It's happened to me with Asda and British Rail (or whatever our local service is calling themselves these days). Both times took just under a week to get money back. One important thing to remember is that when you get to the end of this sentence, you'll realise it's just my sig.0

have you called your bank to check that both payments have authorisation codes and have been actually debits? Some banks remove the funds but then return them when the payment rejects.
Speak to your bank first to make sure both amounts have definitely been taken. They may be able to cancel one if it is an obvious double payment. If not, speak to the shop and see what they can do.You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0
