Can anyone tell me will the prices of Gas and Electric go up because of Tsunami in Japan?????????

    It should not as it has caused no change in the supply or demand of fuel resources. There may be some problems in the future when Japan rebuilds their infrastructure and has to restock the depleted supplies. A lot depends on what has actually been lost.

    Can anyone tell me will the prices of Gas and Electric go up because of Tsunami in Japan?????????

    The "big six" don`t really need an excuse to raise prices, they just and will do it anyway.

    At the moment they are under investigation from Ofgem, and when that "toothless bulldog" has decided in their favour, then they`ll whack the prices up again.

    Nobody really knows but since we're speculating I'll have a bash.

    The newspaper yesterday did seem to have some relevent info in as it was saying Japan would have a much higher demand for a type of gas thatNPower imports a lot of.

    As I said above though its a bit like discussing house prices or interest rates, nobody really knows its just speculation. Personally I think price will continue to rise due to the impact of renewables.

  • The loss of their nuclear supply of power means they are buying up gas to replace it. Basic supply and demand - wholesale gas prices are rising steeply.
