1 windscreen washer nozzle doesn't spray - MOT failure?
hi,
i had problems with my windscreen washers not spraying water, but after filling up the tank to the brim and spraying the nozzles with an air compressor can, 3 of the 4 nozzles are finally spraying water.
my question is will I fail my MOT if one of the nozzles is not spraying water? or as long as the other 3 are spraying water onto the windscreen then this will be acceptable?
thanks in advance!

Probably won't even check it.
I've passed MOTs with an empty wash bottle.
Give it a poke with a pin. Cans of air are meant for blowing dust away and not much else.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
I would soak the nozzles in a limescale remover like lime lite. My car had similar and it was cured by that and a pin to re-align the jet.
Don't know about MOT though. If wipers wipe water all over screen the I would assume it would be ok.0 -
im with the poke with the pin party lol allways sorts out me blocked nozzles0

http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m4s08000201.htm has some info but it's open to interpretation. If the washer provides enough water to clear the screen it should be ok, regardless of one of the four nozzles not working?0

This may initially sound great, but I'd be worried whether the rest of the test had been done properly?
VOSA do regular mystery shopper tests. The tester in the garage where I worked wouldn't have risked his hard won MOT licence by not testing something properly!0 -
The criteria is exactly the washer providing sufficient fluid to clear the screen. Which nozzle is problematic? Suspect if it's on the passenger side you'll not have a problem. "Withabix" - I'd seriously consider where you're getting your motor MOT'd unless they're bunging in some water to get you through the test. If they can't check the washers, what the hell are they doing with the rest of the vehicle?0
