Just in case you are considering it, don't bother with the Scenic, that won't take three sets in the second row. The centre seat is smaller than the outer two, the Picasso's are all the same size.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
I'll add another +1 to the Picasso.
Had a 2010 Xsara Picasso as a courtesy car - actually quite liked it 2600 miles later :o0 -

That's quite some courtesy.

I would say the Picasso as well, loved mine but lack of rev counter drove me bananas... Don't know why but it did!'Just because its on the internet don't believe it 100%'. Abraham Lincoln.
I have opinions, you have opinions. All of our opinions are valid whether they are based on fact or feeling. Respect other peoples opinions, stop forcing your opinions on other people and the world will be a happier place.0 -
another + for the picasso, dont know what the new versions are like c4picassos and the like but the older zsara picassos are great, you do have to get used to the judging the front of the car because of the slope of the bonnet but otherwise great car.....I am currently debating if I should keep mine (coming up for 6years old) or move on to an octavia or other car....but picasso still going strong0

Another one for Citroen, have a look at the Berlingo, if you can suffer it being van like, my uncle has one for my disable aunt, and they love it, they get wheelchair, cage for the dog, and loads of luggage, pretty sure you can get 3 seats across the rear seats. I also had a Honda FRV but not sure on resale costs of them it was about 6 years ago we had it, but it does have 3 seats in front and 3 in back, all seperate seats, front middle seat slides back further than the driver and passenger to allow a little extra shoulder room, plus if it's the older kid in the front they take on an extra air of power and responsibility! Thanks to all the competition posters.0

You do tend to miss it for a bit, but after a while it doesn't matter really. Like many cars it is hard to feel totally satisfied. The C4 Picasso cleared up a lot of "deficiencies" the Xsara Picasso had, such as a tachometer, but they are all mostly cosmetic stuff. The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark0 -
We were in a similar situation and found a novel solution...
Whilst trawling the dealerships, we found the award-winning Volvo childseat, which can be separated to being just a booster seat when the child is old enough.
The novel solution?
Although the seat is a standard width "inside", it has a very narrow frame and so is not as wide "outside". This meant that instead of having to change car, we were able to put 2x Volvo seats plus one standard baby seat across the back seat, and now 3x Volvo seats.
This discovery cost us iro £70 per Volvo seat, but saved £'000s in changing the car!!!
We have a VW Passat Estate btw, 130bhp, very large boot, ave 55mpg (I get upto 65mpg on my 45 mile drive to work on A roads), 2003, value iro £3.5k, long life service means once every 18k miles or so. Very cheap and happy motoring!0 -

I hated the digital speedometer at first because of the way it changed - you don't see the speed rise/fall like you do on an analogue speedo if you know what I mean.
Got used to it though and liked the central location. Rev counter didn't bother me, my Picanto doesn't have one either (although does have one of those annoying "shift indicators")0
