What to do with £100K?

Hi, As problems go, this is a "nice" one. I have just come into £100,000 and can't make up my mind which direction to go with it. I currently have a mortgage of £70K and I'm tempted to pay it all off and invest the remiander.....(somewhere?). Alternatively, as I'm comfortable with my mortgage repayments, I could invest the lot...somewhere? My third option has been suggested to me by a senoir work colleague who wants to add another £100K and purchase a plot of land to develop solely for profit.
I'm sure there are a million other suggestions of what could be done to "solve" my dilema, but I just can't convince myself which way to go! Any suggestions?

Any PFA would advise you to decide on how much risk you want to take - paying mortgage & safely investing remainder is obviously the lowest risk. Land/property speculation is greater but rewards can be much better. So you need to decide whether you are secure in your job, health & suchlike, then whether you can afford to lose a part of it in riskier investments.0
