O right, and the fact we are scientifically second only to USA is a "joke"? Just because you dont have a clue doesnt mean everyone in this country is so worthless and untalented

    :D
Since you brought it up, can you just spend a few seconds explaining why we are "scientifically second"?
    Thanks

    First, I think :)
No, it’s not just our favourite national conceit. A few years back, a study by MITI - Japan’s equivalent of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) - concluded that 54% of the world’s most important inventions of the past 100 years were British. Of the rest, 25% were American and 5% Japanese

What about over the last 25 years?

If by important inventions they mean ever more ridiculous ways to create ultra high risk debt packaged up as AAA rated financial instruments, I agree.

The UK is a severely indebted economy and is currently politically and socially stable.

Egypt, Libia and Tunisia were also stable countries until recently.

However, the UK is likely to remain stable as we are fortunate enough to be wealthy. There might be the odd riot here and there ....

...as it has proven for about 300 years,

If there is one thing history teaches us, its that the future is unpredictable.

When the chunk of faom fell off the space shuttle, NASA concluded it would not be a problem because it happened before and on those occasions the space shuttle had been fine...

Mind you, the Uk will manage, everyone will have to take a small hit on their standard of living but we will adapt.

...who constantly belittle the UK, and say we are a joke country whose economy is based on nothing and we will all be living in boxes soon.

    This is what I say:

The UK is the most politically and socially stable country in the world, as it has proven for about 300 years, and it is capable of weathering alot of shocks to the global economy and still being ok.

Just don't try and buy anything foreign with the mickey mouse currency. Save the pound, you know it makes sense:rotfl:
